District Manager - Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District

 

The Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is the oldest conservation organization in Washington County, Maine. Located in Machias, our mission is to improve the economic performance of Washington County's natural resources for the benefit of residents by encouraging the independent application of proven resource protection methods.

 

The district manager of the Washington County SWCD is tasked with the daily administration and execution of all district happenings. As district manager, you would develop programs, collaborate with the public, manage finances, offer relevant expertise, and coordinate with other like-minded organizations to achieve our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Duties

    • Coordinate monthly board meetings and meeting materials

    • Manage district finances

    • Operate the District website and Facebook page to build the district’s presence in Washington County

​​

  • Outreach

    • Collaborate with various like-minded organizations

    • Develop programming to promote environmental stewardship by individuals

    • Assist Natural Resources Conservation Service in office activities and locally led conservation

​​

  • Qualifications

    • Passion for natural resource management

    • Self motivated and able to work independently

    • Driver’s license and reliable transportation

    • Education and/or experience in environmental science/natural resources

    • Experienced and able at planning,organization, and program management

    • Computer skills, including google workspace, and excel. GIS software experience encouraged

 

  • CompensationHourly, $20/hour, 40 hours a week
